Sunshine, sand, and even more dirty diapers

Monthly Archives: April 2012

Elise is 22 months old today. Only two more months until I can just call her by a normal age…TWO! I know it’s been a long while since I’ve put anything up here, but I thought today was as good a day as any to say “what’s up” to the internets. :-)
My little girl seems to wake up each morning with a little more definition to her personality and something else funny to share with her momma; and a lot more stubbornness too (thanks to her dad I think).
She is talking quite a bit these days. Sometimes it is understandable (counting from two to five, naming her body parts, asking for more ketchup…), but a lot of the time it is just a babbling commentary of whatever’s going on in that little blonde head of hers.

Some things that have been making me smile lately:
-How many things she likes to call “bee-u-a-ful” – a flower, her painted toenails, her reflection in the mirror on our stairway, it is so sweet
-How she likes to “hop hop hop” everywhere she goes. Walking is just not enough for her these days, it’s like she is exploding with energy
-Watching her ride a pony without me holding on to her. I can’t believe my eyes!
-The way she will drop everything to go blow bubbles or play in the kiddie pool in the backyard. Definitely her two favorite activities lately.

A few things that I’m sure I will look back on and smile at (someday):
-When she gets it in her head that she wants to pick out her clothes. It’s not that I mind what she wears…if she could just pick out a top and a bottom! When she wants to wear three shirts and no pants, that’s when we have a problem.
-Her lack of enthusiasm at meal time. Some days, getting her to eat is basically impossible. If it was up to her I think she’d have spoonfuls of ketchup for every meal.
-Waking up in the night too often. Need I say more? :-\

scrunchy face

"You want me to eat WHAT?" "It's ice cream Elise, I know you'll like it"

pool time

Anytime she sees her swimsuit hanging up, it's pool time!

no hands

Look at her, she's galloping away!
